HERP TOOL · LEOPARD GECKO GENETICS

Leopard Gecko Genetics Calculator

Select each parent’s confirmed genotype to calculate expected offspring ratios under a Mendelian inheritance model. This first version covers only relatively well-defined single-gene traits.

Before you calculate
“66% het,” “possible het,” and visual estimates are not confirmed genotypes. Use only information supported by lineage records, verified pairings, genetic testing, or similarly reliable evidence. Different albino strains are calculated as separate loci.

Parent A

Parent B

Traits included in this calculator
  • Mack Snow — incomplete dominant: Normal / Mack Snow / Super Snow
  • Tremper Albino — recessive
  • Bell Albino — recessive
  • Rainwater Albino — recessive
  • Eclipse — recessive
  • Blizzard — recessive
  • Murphy Patternless — recessive
Not included: Traits with a strong selective-breeding or polygenic component, such as Tangerine, Hypo, Bold, and Stripe; traits that cannot be confirmed reliably from phenotype alone; and traits associated with known health problems are excluded from the first version. In addition, an animal is not automatically a RAPTOR merely because it expresses both Tremper Albino + Eclipse. The RAPTOR name also carries lineage and selective-breeding context.

How the calculator works—and its limits

For each trait, the calculator uses the probability of an allele being passed on by each parent, following the same logic as a Punnett square. Under a simplified model in which the traits assort independently, the probability of several traits appearing together is calculated by multiplying their individual probabilities. Real breeding outcomes can be affected by small sample sizes, record errors, unconfirmed hets, lineage information, and phenotypic variation.

A note on albino strains: Tremper, Bell, and Rainwater must be managed as distinct strains. Because appearance alone cannot always distinguish the three with complete confidence, accurate breeding records are especially important.
